This album is inspired by bits and pieces of Ethio-Jazz , Afrobeat , Highlife Spiritual Jazz and dusty funk 45’s. It’s where I’m at now and what has kept this mortal vehicle fueled. I tend to take different paths each musical outing but this one is for the long haul, the one for the blue highways and forgotten byways. It’s the one to get lost to. It’s about the journey, not the destination.

Tommy Guerrero continues pushing the boundaries while upholding his San Francisco Bay heritage. Starting from the Bones Brigade skate team in the 80’s, he’s made movie appearances, designed for Levis in Japan, Vans shoes worldwide and Sutro eyewear among others, signed a skateboard contract with Converse, co-founded Real Skateboards and 40’s Clothing, is art director for Krooked Skateboarding, and found time to be a prolific recording artist.

How Animators Created the Spider-Verse || WIRED

After decades of cookie cutter animated films using the the 'Pixar aesthetic' over and over again, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse pushed the format to new heights with an art style that felt like it flew straight off of the comic book page.

But it was more than a breath of fresh air, it was inventive and magical and spirited and special. It was art in its purest form.

In this short film, Visual Effects Supervisor Danny Dimian and Head of Character Animation Josh Beveridge share not only their inspiration for the Academy Award-winning film but the specific techniques they used to create the visual language itself.

Finding The Barrel || Short Film

Right after the Hope Island adventure, Kepa and Natxo decided it was time to pull the plug and head somewhere more dependable (Aritz had to split for other career obligations).

They beelined it to Indo.

It took them a couple of days to zero in on a spot, but again, they commandeered a fishing boat and found themselves staring at a wave they really didn’t want to ride.

Remote, heavy and shallow, Kepa and Natxo decided to paddle out against their better judgment. 

“We should have had helmets. I’ve heard stories of guys surfing this spot wearing motorcycle leathers because the reef just tears you up,” Kepa explained. “Neither of us felt comfortable out there, even wearing fullsuits, but we’d come so far.”

Artist Tyrrell Winston Turns Trash to Fine Art || HYPEBEAST IMPRESSIONS

Years ago, Tyrrell Winston began scavenging trash around his Brooklyn, NY neighborhood to utilize as materials for his collage artworks and sculptures. Winston is especially privy to using discarded cigarette butts, basketballs, and nets for his latest pieces. Oftentimes, the LA-born creative would walk for miles to collect trash for repurposing — a charitable and meaningful endeavor for the artist who aims to shed light on the stories behind every ditched item he gathers.

“The perfect basketball is weathered and worn. The perfect broken net is a rusted metal chainlink net that is totally mangled. The perfect cigarette to me is a Winston cigarette. I’m biased, my last name is Winston,” he said. “[The cigarette] would have lipstick on it and it wouldn’t be too smashed up. It would still be firm.”

The motto of the Nothing in Between project, "go with the flow", could be the antithesis of the too often mentioned "keep on pushing".

It is the fascination with the wheels' sound on the asphalt in a hypothetically infinite line, devoid of interruptions.

"Nothing in Between" is the stream of consciousness of a skateboarder and his board: one trick after another, and nothing else in the middle.

Formed of Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald “DJ” Johnson on drums; Khruangbin’s sounds are rooted in the deepest waters of world music infused with classic soul, dub and psychedelia. 

Their 2015 debut album ‘The Universe Smiles Upon You’ was heavily influenced by 60’s and 70’s Thai cassettes the band listened to on their long car journeys to rehearsal in the Texan countryside.

‘Con Todo El Mundo’ takes inspiration not just from South East Asia but similarly underdiscovered funk and soul of the Mediterranean and the Middle East, particularly Iran.

The passengers’ failed attempts to get out, descend into frustrated chaos.

Losing all sense of rationality, they go wild in order to ensure their own survival.

Manuel Viera spent 8 days visiting this incredible, mysterious and full of colours country.

Morocco is one of the most photogenic countries his ever been.

He and his colleague travelled with their GH5 cameras in their hands all the time trying to capture the essence of Morocco and their human beings.

After 8 days they ended up with more than 600Gb of raw footage.

Manuel Viera edited this film trying to share his fleeting stay in the country and sharing all the visuals stimulations he had along the whole trip.
