Mario Ayala || Studio Visit

Mario Ayala is an artist whose paintings touch on elements of lowrider culture, West Coast upbringing, identity & rooted family ties.

With personal history as an influence, the imagery in his work depicts materials that place emphasis on community, lifestyle & tradition.

Growing up in Fontana California, Ayala’s first exposure to art was through his father who worked as a truck driver & would exemplify the art of designing one’s vehicle symbolic of lowrider culture; alongside pen to paper drawings that Mario would observe.

Mario works making paintings at his studio in Los Angeles and has shown at Jeffrey Deitch New York, Ever Gold San Francisco, amongst others.
