Mercedes-Benz TV || Fistful of Wolves
In light of the approaching fashion week fanfare, director Danny Sangra
directs this short film for Mercedes-Benz which parodies various clichés
ubiquitous in fashion advertising. The film encompasses the cinematic
scope of a melodramatic thriller, starring Justin O’Shea, buying
director for online retailer mytheresa.com, who, while driving around in
a 1970s Mercedes-Benz C111 concept car, gets caught up in various
self-narrating monologues highlighting the profound significance of the
fashion industry all while preparing for an event of epic proportions,
also known as Berlin Fashion Week. His self-important rambles are faced
with interruption and interrogation, however, when partner and style
editor Veronika Heilbrunner, brothers Gabe and Raffi Chipperfield, and
former online editor-at-large at Vogue Germany Julia Knolle, step in to bring O’Shea back to reality.
The highly stylized fashion short draws inspiration from late ’70s perfume ads and films such as The Matrix and Back to the Future and also marks the third episode of Fashion Creatives,
a video series starring fashion industry professionals in cleverly
scripted narratives that satirize and celebrate the fashion community.
