But here's the part that will leave you speechless: when European "explorers" finally reached Timbuktu centuries later, they found a city in decline and declared it had never been great at all. The myth of African inferiority was born from the ashes of Africa's golden age.

Portishead’s iconic vocalist Beth Gibbons returned nearly 15 years after her band last performed in Australia—her singular voice as intense as ever— her Australian solo debut part of Vivid LIVE 2025. Few voices were as instantly recognisable, as spooky and seductive, as that of Portishead’s Beth Gibbons. The English singer-songwriter rose to fame as the voice of that trip-hop trio, a group whose slinky, sinister beats and jazz-infused vocals set them apart from the chill-out sounds of the 90s.

Gibbons returned for her solo show, performing tracks from her critically acclaimed new album Lives Outgrown and a selection of classics from across her career. Following the era-defining sound of Portishead’s debut Dummy (1994) and their self-titled 1997 sequel, Gibbons spent the band’s extended hiatus recording Out of Season (2002), an eerie chamber-folk album alongside Talk Talk’s Paul Webb. She also worked with Annie Lennox, French icon Jane Birkin, Kendrick Lamar, and contributed to film soundtracks.

The Mystery of Picasso is a 1956 film, made by Henri-Georges Clouzot.

It aims to unravel Picasso’s process of painting and of artistic production of metaphysical meta-projects in just 75 minutes.

This film documents the production of 20 original works by Picasso. Here we see how Picasso’s earlier works were made principally in black ink, with little tinges of color at certain places and gradually the proportion and range of colors increased.

It highlights the main subjects of Picasso’s paintings, which were mainly women and women’s breasts, bullfighting, Mediterranean scenes, though they were abstract in quality, the occasional old school cubist flourish.

Limp Bizkit is an American nu-metal and rapcore band from Jacksonville, Florida. The band has already sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. The current band members are singer Fred Durst, bassist Sam Rivers, drummer John Otto (Rivers' nephew) and guitarist Wes Borland. Guitarist Wes Borland left the band in 2001 after the band had released three albums. He was replaced by Mike Smith, who worked on the band's fourth album, Results May Vary. Borland returned in 2004 and worked on The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1), only to leave the band shortly afterwards in 2005. He then worked on various projects such as his own band Black Light Burns, Fear and the Nervous System, Jonathan Davis & the SFA and Marilyn Manson. On February 12, 2009, it was confirmed on the band's official website that all five original band members will reunite and go on a world tour. In August 2009 it was announced that they were working on a new studio album. Fred Durst has indicated on his Twitter account that Gold Cobra would be released on June 7, 2011, a few days later the release date was pushed back to June 28, 2011. Limp Bizkit headlined the Belgian Graspop Metal Meeting in Dessel on 23 June 2012.
