Paris Through Pentax

The romanticised version of Paris displayed in this short film is all rather cliché and done-to-death, but none-the-less the technique of shooting footage through a Pentax 67 viewfinder results in a beautiful aesthetic. The film was produced by advertising & production agency Maison Carnot and features music by A.taylor

Japanese One Stroke Dragon Paintings

Painters at the Studio Kousyuuya in Nikko, Japan, practice a skilful technique which allows them to paint the body of a dragon in a single brushstroke. The movement is called hitofude ryuu, which roughly translates as "dragon with one stroke" and has been passed down through four generations of painters. These Sumie artists only ever paint dragons but, as you can see from the videos, this has allowed them to get very good at it. In Japan dragons are considered to be talismans against evil and can bring good luck, which is why you see them adorning ancient shrines and temples.

Airplanes Look Like Epic Shooting Stars In The Air Traffic

Ever wondered what it's like in one of the busiest airports in the world? With a flight landing and taking off almost every minute during peak hours, it can get pretty insane.
Shoot a timelapse of that, and you get transported to a sci-fi world with shooting stars breaking into the atmosphere. Shot in the restricted runway area of Singapore Changi Airport.

Omote || Real-Time Facial Projection Mapping

Using incredibly precise light projectors, Nobumichi Asai has demonstrated how a person's face can be digitally altered in real-time. The technique, called Projection Mapping, is relatively common these days, but until now it's only really been used on static objects like buildings and shoes.
To achieve the effect, the dimensions and contours of the model's face are scanned onto the system. Tiny dots are then added to specific areas of the face to allow the cameras to track her movements and exact position.

A new video by London-based production company, Golden Wolf charts the evolution of Nike from their humble beginnings in 1971, taking us on a journey through their key innovative designs across seven, game-changing eras. It's seven films, 43 years of history and 200 shoes, all in under 2 minutes. The range of footwear shown covers running and basketball, and rightfully so, but for whatever reason, there's an unequal amount emphasis placed on soccer shoes...

Levi's || Skateboarding in La Paz

In April 2014 Levi’s Skateboarding trekked down to La Paz, Bolivia, joining a global team of skateboarders — including Marius Syvanen, David Gravette, Josh Matthews, Joey Pepper, Chet Childress, Al Partanen and local skater Milton Arellano — to build the Pura Pura skatepark three miles up in the sky. They greeted additional teams of builders, journalists, filmmakers and photographers, who set up camp a few hundred yards up from the build site. There were sixteen-hour days of pouring concrete followed by dinners cooked on camp stoves, ultimately resulting in a 2000 square meter skatepark bringing together the local community and beyond. Check out the full “Skateboarding in La Paz” documentary film below, directed by Simon Weyhe and produced by Levi’s Skateboarding.

STREETS || New York City

Cinematographer and documentary filmmaker Tim Sessler presents a new short film capturing a side of New York City not often seen. In “STREETS,” the stereotypically fast life of the city and its citizens is slowed down to a beautiful crawl. Water gun fights read like waterfalls while high-intensity sports like biking, skating and handball show the athleticism inherit in them. Yellow cabs and some of the city’s most iconic monuments appear in a new light, somewhere between a still image and real life. Even pigeons, in all their annoying glory, come across as beautiful creatures of flight.
