Dockers Men of Style // Nick Wooster - Get Dressed Like You Mean It

"For the sixth and final installment of their Get Dressed Like You Mean It series, Dockers turns the lens on much-buzzed-about fashion icon Nick Wooster. Having featured the likes of Mickey Rapkin, Jared Flint, Sean Hotchkiss, Marcus Troy and Lawrence Schlossman in the past, Wooster discusses a man’s need for a “uniform” as well as the idea that how you dress is a direct reflection of what you hope to achieve on that particular day. The Dockers Spring/Summer 2013 collection appropriately dubbed 'Get Dressed Like You Mean It' is designed to equip guys with a solid foundation of refined yet rugged wardrobe essentials that through their versatility and acute attention to detail take the guess-work out of 'what-to-wear' and 'how-to-wear' it."

Hiro Kurata - "This Land Was Your Land" - Ivory & Black Soho

For me, painting has been the most effective way for me to understand where I come from and who I might be.” – Hiro Kurata

"Ivory & Black Soho proudly presents “This land was your land” – the first solo exhibition in London by the Japanese artist Hiro Kurata. This exhibition presents the artist’s interpretation of the traditional Western approaches to portraiture and still life – two of the most prominent genres of painting throughout the History of Art. In his paintings, Hiro is particularly interested in
the symbols of wealth and power – two essential features that he uses both in portraiture and still life, from the ancient Rome to the contemporary age of celebrity. His imaginary heroes – the “Baseball sluggers” – are figures embodied of symbols that reflect the cultural and racial conflict in the modern Western Society, and his confusion between the concepts of race and culture in America."

"There's a trend at the moment for creating super slow motion skateboarding videos, and when it's done well it's easy to see why. Nick Midwig and John Benam were recently lucky enough to get their hands on one of just 150 available Phantom HD Gold cameras, using it to film skateboarder Spencer Brown at between 1000 fps and 1500 fps in high-def. Watch all of his tricks in perfect clarity below!"

The Way I Dress: Mr Joshua Kissi

"My name is Joshua Kissi, I’m one half of Street Etiquette, and I’m from the Bronx, New York.
My first memory of being conscious of style or fashion was in high school, furthermore than that, I think my parents inspired me, as far as being West African, they are from Ghana, seeing how they used to dress so elegant just to go to these events…that’s the first time is saw color and the way people express themselves – linking clothing to emotion. That’s when I think I got introduced to style…
My parents thought I was gong to be a doctor, it is still kind of surreal to them that you can make a living or job or have some type of lucrative income off of just style or fashion – when I broke the news to them they were shocked..after a while…New York Times, GQ and everything, now they’re pretty proud.
I roll up everything, unless it’s like, you know, tuxedo trousers obviously or something more formal, I pretty much go by it all the time, no socks, roll up. Some people make fun of it, some people don’t like but hey! it your personal taste.
I would describe my style as just… I don’t know, I mean it’s hard to just give it a label or category ‘cause then I feel like I’m putting it in a box…sometimes Afro-dandyism, sometimes punk, a touch of prep, a touch of Americana…like an amalgamation of everything I’m interested in as far as colors, patterns, silhouettes and jewelry accessories.
My style is just style I wouldn’t put it in a category."
