GOLDEN BARBICAN || Short Film

GOLDEN BARBICAN is a new film from Joe Gilbert which explores the beauty of London’s iconic Barbican Estate.

Built as part of the post-war regeneration initiative, the Brutalist buildings are seen as ugly by many, while others view them as a beautiful social utopia.

It was filmed during the “golden hour” across six weeks, each shot shows a single sunset. “The Barbican has an incredible transformative ability,” says Gilbert. “In golden hour, as the sun is setting, the estate morphs into a glowing wonder differing from it’s usual brutal and imposing appearance.”
