This is Naija || A Nigerian Football Story

Coinciding with Nigeria’s 2-0 win against Iceland, Nike has premiered an 18-minute documentary called This is Naija || A Nigerian Football Story.

 Directed by Nigerian photographer and filmmaker Andrew Dosunmu, it explores the African nation’s rich football culture and includes interviews with some of the country’s most notable players, both past and present, including Odion Ighalo, Wilfred Ndidi, and Segun Odegbami.

 Naiji is “an unbridled, optimistic, confident approach to football–and to life–that sets Nigeria apart” says Nike. “Wherever you travel in this diverse country of over 500 different ethnic groups, it is football that serves as a universal language, the connective tissue, that unifies this land, and drives the spirit, belief and the energy of Nigeria today.”

 In 2006, Dosunmu also released The African Game, “a compelling on-the-ground depiction of Africa’s passion for football and the emerging players from a continent in love with the game.”
